There is nothing better than waking up from a good night’s sleep feeling refreshed, energised and ready to take on the world.   However for many of us we don’t get to sleep, we toss and turn all night or we wake up feeling sluggish and just simply want to turn over and go back to sleep.  

Getting a good night’s sleep is so important after all this is our time to heal naturally, rejuvenate and power up for the day ahead.   It’s thought that good quality sleep can help reduce your blood pressure; help your memory; improve your heart health, reduce stress, maintain your weight and more…..

Some tips for a better night’s sleep include:

1. Writing down all those thoughts that keep running through your mind, distracting you from the task at hand – sleeping.

2. Do a short mindfulness meditation or simply focus on your breath and its rhythm.

3.  One of my personal favourites is to replay my day backwards.  This activity blocks your mind to other things, and it seems to me your mind just gives up.   So how do you do this – well if the last thing you did before bed was have a drink of water you would start with an empty glass in your hand, then you would take a sip and the glass would fill ever so slightly, keep repeating until the glass is full, then you would turn on the tap and the water would go into the tap leaving you again with an empty glass, etc….
